Hmmguy aka Phil R.I.P.

our brother and team mate, PHIL aka HMMGUY has died
After a couple weeks abscence from sjype and everywhere else, i finally was contacted by Chris , his son, with the news that he cam home somedays ago and found his father dead.


The mods, will contiue as programmed, the physics and sounds , someone very soon will come in, or some of us have enough knowledge for it, but , IT IS THE LOSS of a friend, a brother, ONE OF US, that we can never ever replace.
He talked to me every single day. We talked about cars, mods, politics, mudsic, humour, women, anything and everything.
I feared this, but had to take the time to be absolutelly sure till i bring you this sad terrible news.
Once he had told me i was forbidden to die, cuz i was his only brother,
He was a unique guy, honest, loyal.
And personally i reckon this moment its taking a bigger toll than i imagined.
HOWEVER, more than ever for Phil, in his memory, cuz this was his dream too, for all reasons, More than ever i assure you our mods will go to the end and be released.

So today

ABSOLUTE MODDING TEAM MOURNS A TERRIBLE LOSS

and i ask you all of you to write a memory , or something that comes to your mind as you think of him. Some funny moment or whatever.

Bet by now he is already tuning cars in heaven and making perfect physics for the big man up there, cya later Bro.

Aww shit ! I can't believe what I am reading here. There was no indication that brother Phil was ill or anything, was there Antonio ? The guy really added a splash of colour to the canvas of modding. I really believe that Phil genuinely had a lot of fun doing his modding magic to various mods.

God, he was only in his fifties, wasn't he ? I did not read that his health was failing him.

Oh man. God rest your soul Phil and may you find peace wherever you may be.

Unfortuantely Phil had several health issues for a long time, he could barelly walk, and had quite some problems,
Recently a chance of skin cancer appeared on the horizon, but this was very recent.And he always had this probelm of 2 or 4 days per month he d kinda got numb or with strong headaches, that were diagnosed as cluster headaches.
HOWEVER YOU ARE RIGHT

Nothing, abosultelly NOTHING could antecipate this situation.
His health was not great, but it was stable.
However it only takes a breath for life to end, and it was what happened.
Yes he was 59 i think.

I think he was 57 Antonio, still a young man these days.

RIP Hmmguy aka Phil and thanks for all your contributions to the community.

Really really terrible news. I can remember a private chat with him, we talked about many things and ended with a neilyoungesque "hey hey my my, GTR2 can never die".

Totally shocked by this, i worked with him for a long time on a number of projects,Rest in peace my good friend.

I was lucky enough to have worked with Phil on several projects, as well.

Very sad to hear this news. He was a great person to know. Had a few phone calls but mostly communicated by PM at several sites.

As stated above, he had a very good sense of humor and would joke about almost anything. And when he did, it was definitely funny.

Really going to miss him.

It really is more of a loss that we suffer in our incredible community. I think we always think we are immortal, and that we will never disappear from this conviviality here. But we've already been here at the Simracing community for so many years that we feel like our brothers and sisters, or great childhood friends. But of course, Phil [Hmmguy] is in the other dimension and much better than we are here.
Thank you, friend, for giving us so much pleasure and fun with your work in these Mods and cars, and rest in peace.

About my talks with him amongst many jokes i remember, whenever he wanted to explain something about the cars physics he d make huuuuuge testaments explaining everything to the detail.
In the end i d tell him... "Bro......you realize that was all greek to me, and you are THE ENGINEER, tell me, why do i pay you the big bucks for?
He d answer

Once he sent me the WM Peugeots for me to test, and the car had no brakes..... he went out for a smoke while i tested the cars.
When he came back i told him..
-You almost killed me. NO BRAKES BROTHER!!!
- HE d answer... "WHAT?"
- Tell me bro, did u leave chichi alone with the cars?

- I did....and he is grining.... BAD CHICHI, BAD CHICHI!!!!! HE MESSED WITH THE BREAKS BOSS, not my fault!

and we blamed it on poor mighty CHICHI!!! (phil´s Chihuahua

Just got the news.....Phil was an amazing guy and very helpful when i started getting into sim racing a few years ago... So sorry to hear of his passing... Will definitely be missed.

I remember a few of those moments as well when he was working on his CanAm mod. He would go out for a smoke while i was testing and then when he came back If something was wrong we would joke about it.

I am sad to get this news.

Several years back when he first started working on the Can Am mod, Phil and I exchanged many, many emails as I was providing him with engine and trans data for the mod. When he finished some of the cars he would send them to me and ask for me to try them out (drive them).

While I did not know him personally, he will be missed. Rest in Peace. My condolences too his family and all that knew him.
