Nice find that AM DB3S! It just needs textures, a proper template... and would be really good for GTL.

Yup, if the model will come with textures too, mapped to the 3D model too... no problem, I'll add the car to GTL for you.

If I think harder, then I guess there're some cars that could run (more or less) with the W194 300 SL, some already in-game. In the meantime, the car it's not bad in the TC-65 class.

Well, the W194 300 SL could join the 1953-1955 Corvette which I released 2 years ago.



Then, the Ferrari 166 Inter released by Ron123 could join it in the pre-1955 era. Started my own conversion quite a while ago, improved it, but did not finish it.









Then, I have the 212 Export Spider, a car that was raced too in 1952. I have some photos.

Yes, I really forgot the 166! The grid could be quite good, I'll have a look around 3d sites about another legend of those days, the Jaguar C type.

Where can I find/download the 212 Export Spider???

It's not released yet m8 and could take a few weeks/months if I know MG and the way he works looking into the history of the skins and bodywork.

If you want more cars of that era there's also the AC Ace, Jag XK120, Morgan Plus 4 (if it ever got finished?) and if you stretch the years a little the MGA and Austin Healey 100 6...

Yes I know, I've made a separate GTR2 install + PnG3 menu structure and with only '50 - '60 cars: AC Ace, AM DBR1, DBR2 and DB4GT, AH 100S and 3000, BMW 507, Corvette 53/55, 58/60 and 60LM, Ferrari 250 California, 250 SWB, 250TR and 375 Plus, Jaguar XK120 and D-types, Lotus XI and Elite, Maserati 300S, 450S and Tipo 61, Mercedes 300 SL, Gullwing and SLR, MG MGA, Porsche 550A and Triumph TR3 and TRS. Gave them realistic engine/gear files, PnG3 tyres and GTL-GTR2 or DucFreak sounds. Now it's in fact an entire new sim, absolutely great fun to drive...

It's not finished and didn't release it yet. Problem is there's no template available at all for the body, so I don't know if skinning is possible at the moment. But when it'll be finished, very probably I'll release it even without skins.

Oh, yeah, forgot about the XK120! It covers the 1948-1954 years. So, I guess there're few cars available for the early '50s.

From the picture it seems to be skinnable, but I don't know how much different is from an early 50s model.

Just found this site myself some weeks ago. There're some cars from the 1950s and 60s we still miss from our games.

The body version of that Morgan +4 appeared in 1953 and it looks unchanged in 1968 too, when production ended. Over the years it seems that it was upgraded mostly the tech part. The main difference compared to the 1950-1953 version is the front grille shape. The difference is something a la 1932 Ford V8 vs 1933 Ford V8. So, physics apart, the mod can cover quite a number of years. Good news is that I'm working on it at the moment and yes, it's very good for skinning too. The mod structure is closest to GTL from all games I've seen so far. This is how the car looks converted from Simraceway without any modifications, excepting the wheels:





Now I'm working on splitting the car into parts and adding the most important parts to the Genstring line. Got rid of the original wire wheels because they did not look too good and added as default wheels a set from GTL. Then, I'll add some new parts to create even more diversity, like mirrors for the exterior, rollbars, Minilite wheels, LHD version etc.

Great news Marian. Finally there seems to be a chance to get this wonderful car into GTL.

Syber97 over at Trackaholics was working on the same car for GTR2 but in the end he lost all data a year
ago and had to quit the project.

Do you plan a Plus8 version too?

Sorry, can't promise anything. Do you have anything "obvious" in mind? In case I'm wrong, I stand corrected, but looking at some photos... I didn't see anything visually different between +8 and +4. The dimension differences are negligible too, +8 being few cms wider and longer than +4. So, I think the obvious differences are related to the physics part. If it's something I can do about, I'll add the +8 to the fleet, be sure of that. Otherwise, we can only pray that someone will help us by building proper physics files for the +8 version.

Don't worry mate - I think it's mainly a physics modification and maybe wider tyres and/or wider tracks.

No idea concerning racing specs but always fun to see Morgans racing in real life.

The important thing will be to have a Morgan in GTL - no matter if a Plus 4 and/or a Plus 8.

Nice find, but I think only someone with good 3D expertise could take on this job and see if it's of any use. I mean, it's not only that it seems to be missing the cockpit, but even the model seems quite low poly just by looking at the size of file - 250kb. It seems quite worse even than default GTL models, like it's from a 2001-2002 game. In general, a default GTL model has around 750kb... and without wheels. Other than that, yeah, would be really cool to have this car in our games.

How do you feel about this little, low-line roof and unsuccessful racer?!    I guess there wasn't much to ask from a 2.0L Inline6 170HP engine back in 1953... although some might point the finger at the 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL (W194) which won Le Mans in 1952 with an engine producing the same amount of power.
