Subject: Templates for cockpit-files ??? Tue 05 Dec 2023, 7:23 pm
From time to time I am still trying in vain to improve my limited skinning skills.
Noob question:
Do there exist templates for cockpit files (example: ALFA_GTA_CPIT01.DDS)
I want to replace the red colour of the door panel's frame with the colour of a skin I created.

If it's good for the GTA of GTL, I couldn't find anything... But... if you decompile ALFA_GTA_CPIT.GTR you have a dark blue file.

There are some white alfas in P&G, you can use that cockpit texture (or just the door part if the rest is different), then in your paint program, you just paint over the grey of the part, in a new layer if possible, then play with the opacity or layer options to get the best results. If you don't use a new layer, set the brush on "multiply" to keep the background shading below your color...

Easy way, in paint.net, somewhere in the menu, after select that red area, just edit the color and saturation moving the scroll bar until find the desired color.

Yep, that's the easy way, but it often looks ugly. I know some people who skin complete cars like that. A little bit on the left and the car turns orange, a little more, it's red, a little more it's purple, and so on... Just change the numbers on the doors and it's ready to race.

But If the color you wish is not a color, but part of a texture, you can add a layer, paste the texture, reduce the transparencie and move the selection over the original background, so when It's fits right, increase the transparencie of the layer and sabe the file. Better way.
