thanks
ok, I realized the garage showroom background texture presents too much modern pit boxes, so Ive made them looking like the LeMans 60s. sample scheme images attached. the decal paint will be improved yet..
also, the more I am testing all the showroom stuff, the more hurts my eyes and brain watching the complex rotating scene, so the less painy solution seems to me to let the car + floor spin and the rest will be static object... that means no pillars, of course

ok, I started to find a decent solution relating to car skins / spec masks, to fit our LMC cars with the PnG ones.
1969 917K first tests attached.

ok, lets stay with the iconic Porsche 917 car a while yet - some of you maybe know we got permissions to use ANY of 3d models made by Marco F. for our mods. most of his models is available for GTL or rFactor.
well, what I did today is a quick repaint of one of his "70s" Porsche 917 models. I just wasnt able to resist to try it I didnt made any 3d mesh changes sofar (except LMC wheel mesh implementation), its basically a quick skin repaint only, unfinished. I just think such models really still can make a pretty nice good job for simplayers, even at modern games.
finally, such 70s 917 cars are possible LMC car add-on vehicle production enhancement...

Indeed. I prefer RMI's model, but it's a hell of an update.
The Powered and Glorified '69 1917 is amazing. I never thought that I'd dig that car, but wow, I'm dying for driving it.

I was in contact with RMi by past, at the Ferrari 312B project overtaking days. I was thinking on his Porsche 917K mod overhaul, but we did not made any such regular deal and later RMi just stopped answering my posts. he is probbaly out of simscene. and his team co-worker R.Stratton has gone.
the Marco F. models offers a pretty good car shape and yet another 917 variants, which I think is a big bonus, comparing to RMi release.
the most "unhappy" thing relating to all the GTR2/GTL released Porshe 917 vehicles is they lacks a decent interiror, I suppose. I would like to change it btw, I was asked if the currently developed rF2 Porsche 917K could use my cpit stuff
how the 907/908/917 interiror looks at our LMC cars you know a bit already. I hope you will be able run them soon.

as to the Marco F. Porsche 917K, here is how the "dated" model would look at AC:
the Porsche 917 AC thread is here.

True that, the 1970 917 L and 1971 917 LH are gorgeous models. I love most of that mod, the Prototypes and the Sports cars.

All the SCGT cars have quite aged interiors, they always had them. The exterior meshes are great even for today's standards, though. With a little shading layer love and new skins these cars look stunning. I don't want to press or anything, but I have to ask, do you have plans for upgrading the 908/02 K Flunder too?

Not really in a hurry. Also, these babies taste better when cooked slooooowly . Haste can't replace love. Trust me, I know.
BTW, I have an off topic question. Do you know if a very long material name (or many in the same mesh) can cause a memory leak?

well, I (we) have a lot of plans... and yes I was thinking about all the 908 and 917 vehicle series, including the Flunder beauty, but we really need to finish and release a few of the mentioned LM cars first
I have not much time spent to check what all could cause a memory leak, currently the LMC mod stuff use relatively long material and texture names, I but I didnt noticed some visible slowdowns or freeze events. still the basic rule should be to optimize, optimize and one more time optimize the stuff, always

I'm checking for memory leaks right now. It's kind of boring...
About the Flunders, I agree with you. It's better to release the cars that you have almost finalized before start widening your range.
It's great that you considered them, though . I always wanted to paint some Le Mans, Interserie, WCM and Can-Am skins for the 908/02.

Hm, the prospect of finally having the short tailed 512s for GTL/GTR2 sounds lovely.
I did some work to create some templates for the available old CSGT-cars, but haven't gotten very far yet.

oh yes, if would be the overhauled model of the 70s Porsche 917 released, it would need some decent competitor, which could be the Ferrari 512 but this all just belongs to our long "wanna do one day" wish list.
the 70s Porsche 917 isnt currently seriously developed, Ive just presented what could come because of the Marco F. stuff gived permissions.
still we may consider to make some changes at the LMC bonus car list development priorities...

ok, back to the LMC actual stuff finalization.
I think I am another step close to the (pre)final showroom lookout style for the GTL LMC mod.
to avoid of the "missing" car tech-data table showroom issue (example) Ive made a wall with textured linear gradient which goes from right black corner into a full transparent color at the edge of the tech-data table.
on the static background gradient wall is projected a BIK movie.
